Field Day for local producers to be held on Aug. 27th

The Graves-Chapple Research Center, north of Corning, Missouri will hold its annual Field Day Tuesday, August 27th. The event begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tours begin at 8:15, and lunch will start around noon.

Superintendent Jim Crawford says the presentations featured during Field Day are designed to provide farmers and producers with useful and timely information.

"We have a technology tour, an integrated pest management tour, and a crop management tour.  And each of these tours focuses on some of the different questions area producers have been asking, some of the research going on at the research center, as well as other topics we think would be of interest to help producers with their bottom line."

Topics discussed on the tours include industrial hemp, foraging, and precision agriculture, as well as 2020 market outlooks for corn and soybeans, and weed and insect management. Crawford adds that donations made on the Field Day will be matched by the University of Missouri up to $500 per donor.

"Dean and Chancellor for the College of Agriculture, Dr. Chris Colbert, has decided that one way to help encourage people and to show their support for the Research Center as well is that any donations made up to $500 during the Field Day will be matched by the College with some funds that they have set aside to actually double that money that's coming in to the Research Center.  This is a great way for folks to show their local support for the Research Center."

Additionally, the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources will match donations made directly to any of the Research Centers from August 1st to October 31st. The Graves-Chapple Research Center Field Day includes breakfast and lunch.
